The Keeper Kebari was inspired by Tenkara no Oni's size 2 kebari. I just couldn't bring myself to tie a size 2, so I tied a size 6 kebari to take to Maine one year on my annual smallmouth bass fishing trip. The smallies took it confidently. When I got back home, I tried it on a trout stream and the trout hit it as soon as it hit the water. I thought to my self, "that fly's a keeper."
I later added a wire rib because after many bass, the yarn body gets torn up without it.
To date, it is still my best fly for bass, by far.
