Many tenkara anglers believe a "zoom" rod is too much of a compromise, with the rod performing well at only one of the two or three lengths. The Tenryu Furaibo TF32TA was specifically designed to perform equally well at all three lengths. People have asked me why Tenryu rods carry a high price. Part of the answer is the exacting design, materials, and manufacturing attention to detail that go into the rod. The result is an exceptional rod, but one which cannot be produced cheaply. You will not find anything like it from any of the Chinese factories that supply rods for the American or European tenkara rod companies.
The TF32TA builds on the success that Tenryu has achieved with their very well received TF39TA. Backpackers, and especially small steam aficionados, wanted the same quality and same capability as the TF39TA, but for smaller streams. The TF32TA can be fished at 2,8, 3,0 and 3.2 m lengths. There aren't many trout streams for which a 2.8m rod is too long! Plus, the collapsed length is only about 10 inches. It just doesn't get more convenient to carry a rod with you.
